Pueblo exiles man following firewood incident

The Pueblo of Taos has many non-Indian individuals living on her lands as well as those that work for the community at hand. The non-Indian community often do not report abuse, violent crime, or other acts commited on them because of the response they would endure. However, there will always be non-Indian populace because the Pueblo world is no longer large enough to perpetuate itself. I want so desparately to be part of my Native heritage but I am now afraid to return. I will have no rights amongst a government that would shun me for being half Taos blood and having a non-Indian companion that would protect me. I want to care for my family in person but I could not get work or acceptance in the community so I live in Los Angeles to help those I love living on Pueblo land. I will hope the New Governor for 2008 will re-visit this situation, evaluate all the information, investigate and make sound and wise decisions not only for the Taos Pueblo people but for the community that have children from families of Pueblo and non-Indian relationships.

Targeted Therapies: A New Generation of Cancer Treatments

These drugs are now a component of therapy for many common malignancies, including breast, colorectal, lung, and pancreatic cancers, as well as lymphoma, leukemia, and multiple myeloma. The mechanisms of action and toxicities of targeted therapies differ from those of traditional cytotoxic chemotherapy. Targeted therapies are generally better tolerated than traditional chemotherapy, but they are associated with several adverse effects, such as acneiform rash, cardiac dysfunction, thrombosis, hypertension, and proteinuria. Small molecule inhibitors are metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes and are subject to multiple drug interactions. Targeted therapy has raised new questions about the tailoring of cancer treatment to an individual patient's tumor, the assessment of drug effectiveness and toxicity, and the economics of cancer care.

Jefferson Awards Nominations

My posts on the subject have now made it across the world a few times and I've been quoted in many other blogs and articles from groups both "for" and "against" the global warming hype. However, in certain parts of the world, GWD's (global warming deniers) are being socially or even physically threatened. Last week in Florida, school children who chose not to watch Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" were given a bad grade. An even worse grade was given if the parents didn't choose to come and watch the documentary with their kids. As a homeowner in the United Kingdom you will be punished with fines and possible front-yard protests if you don't "green up" your dwelling with environmentally friendly products. And now this next item which really gets to the heart and soul of what drives these extreme environmentalists...money.

Multi-car accident closes I-5

The Washington State Patrol has closed southbound Interstate 5 south of Tumwater because of a massive pileup that's left at least 25 cars damaged and at least one person hospitalized.

Trooper Brandy Kessler said traffic was at a standstill for at least 10 miles north of the crash site, which started about six miles south of Tumwater.

"It's just a huge mess going southbound," Kessler said Friday afternoon. "I can't even count how many collisions I've seen."

The chain reaction crash began around 1:30 p.m. when an 80-year-old woman rear-ended a logging truck, Kessler said. An oncoming semi was able to stop before striking the woman's car, but was then struck by a third big rig.

A fourth semi veered into a concrete barrier to avoid the collision, thoroughly snarling traffic.

Kevin Federline

According to an insider, the 26-year-old pop star was not permitted to take the boys, ages two and one, into another room without the others watching.

Also present was a blind chimp with a bazooka. It had been previously determined that, in the case of an emergency, if anyone should be left alone with the children, it should be the chimp. Or a box of old syringes. Britney, however, does have one opportunity to be left alone with her boys. But first she'd have to survive a nuclear holocaust and not be within 100 yards of a radioactive zombie. At which point, said zombie will be the children's primary caregiver. Britney's lawyer is currently fighting for shared custody with the zombie, but so far, no dice.

With magical powers;

To some fans it will offer lifelong validation of allegiance to their team. As fans, as human beings navigating this thing we call day-to-day life, we need these moments of transcendence. They help us to put our own toils in a grander perspective; they remind us that we are capable of bigger things. They help us to celebrate our very ordinary human-ness while they illuminate the intricate ways in which sport and history weave themselves into the fabric of our society and into the threads of our being. Less often real life events perform the same function. It is rare that, through real events, we are able to transcend the mundane. It is unfortunate, and perhaps a barometer of the condition of our society, that events of such significance are usually, though not always, also tragic. There are times, however, when something so magical and mysterious happens that the whole world shines in a light of hope, however briefly.

Labour leads all-party attack on SNP budget

Scotland on Sunday can reveal that the Lib Dems have already signed up in principle to the deal and the Tories have agreed to enter into discussions with Labour. University funding was seen as one of the big losers in last week's SNP Budget. Universities Scotland had wanted £526m over three years but instead received just £263m. Higher education chiefs fear the lack of cash will result in the most talented staff heading to better-paid jobs outside the country and that the quality of Scottish university tuition and research will decline. Rhona Brankin, Labour's education spokeswoman, is leading the bid to "hijack" the SNP Budget. If Labour forges a temporary coalition with the Lib Dems and Tories, they will have 78 out of Holyrood's 128 votes, giving them a comfortable majority. Amendments will be put to Parliament which will switch up to £90m of Budget cash over three years to universities.
