The guild took umbrage with the expanded role of the Office of Professional Accountability Review Board as unanimously legislated by City Council, and with review board members advocating for our fellow citizens who contend they had been abused by SPD officers -- and at least one who believes he got no justice from his day in court. I attended the hearing in behalf of this citizen. His case and his association with Peter Holmes was a major source of evidence and testimony from the guild. The argument between guild and the city boiled down to broad contractual agreements that if literally interpreted, nullified effective citizen oversight of police power. The guild understandably wants to protect the anonymity of its members, but its leaders have demonstrated no sympathy for the constitutional rights of a citizenry to protect itself from malfeasance perpetrated by guild members.

And, barely 20 meters away, I had one in my binocular sights, half hauled out on the muddy swamp bank, jaws slightly agape but enough to display an impressive array of dentistry, and absolutely motionless. It looked primeval, and it might be, as crocodile design has been largely unchanged for hundreds of millions of years. It also seemed sluggish, as if weighed down with armor plate, but this is deceptive: On land a saltie can match a man in a short sprint and in the water it swims sublimely. But this one was going nowhere, basking in the early morning sun and in my admiration. Along the beautifully laid out boardwalks I found a Crimson Sunbird, a minute garnet gem, the precocious Ashy Tailorbird that literally sews its nest together and the Malay Water Monitor a serious lizard at 1.5 meters.
Brit's Dad Wins Extension of Conservatorship
A man who claims to be Britney's attorney has filed a federal lawsuit claiming her civil rights have been violated, arguing that she's being kept "a prisoner" in her own home. In addition, the suit claims that Jamie has been over-medicating Britney and has stripped her of individual rights. .
